Description: Washington State University now offers two online veterinary paraprofessional certificate programs for the veterinary team! Each program is asynchronous, meaning the team member can work at their own pace or on a training schedule set by the veterinary clinic. We offer rolling enrollment, so students can register anytime.
The Veterinary Scribe certificate prepares the team member for medical record scribing by introducing medical terminology in an engaging and enjoyable platform! Students learn body system anatomy and physiology and the associated medical terminology to transcribe accurate and thorough medical records during the physical exam. Professional communication, diagnostic testing and pharmacology are also introduced.
The Preventative Health certificate offers team members training in some of the most important areas of preventative health such as spay and neutering, vaccination protocols, nutrition, behavioral health basics, dental care, parasites and prevention and end of life care to name a few! All team members can advocate for the patients’ health and wellbeing by being knowledgeable in these important areas of preventative medicine. Coursework is heavy in client communication scenarios in each topic to help team members become confident in how to discuss concepts with clients. A great training tool for new employees or those looking to brush up on the latest information and recommendations!
