ALVMF Spay/Neuter License Plate Surgery Program
Through the ALVMF Spay/Neuter License Plate Program, proceeds from statewide tag sales offset the cost of spay/neuter surgeries performed at participating hospitals throughout the state of Alabama. As of May 22, 2014, 16,784 tags have been sold or renewed and 10,967 surgeries have been performed. A great effort in reducing the unneccesary pet population in our state.
Currently, there are 63 veterinary hospitals participating in this program. A co-pay of $10 per cat or $20 per dog must be paid by the Medicaid recipient, the remaining balance is paid to veterinarians through a grant supported by the license plate sales. There is a limit of two animals per household per year.
Qualifications for the program:
Recipients must be residents of the state of Alabama.
Recipients must be on Medicaid
Recipients are responsible for co-pay as described above
Participating clinics must apply for permit numbers prior to surgeries. To find a participating veterinary clinic in your county, click here and then look under your county.
