Upcoming CE Opportunities - Don't Miss Out!

TWO OPPORTUNITES FOR CE CREDIT
Food Animal Conference and Winter CE Meeting

The 19th Annual Conference for Food Animal Veterinarians is right around the corner and you are encouraged to attend for a fascinating weekend highlighting several well known speakers. The date for the conference is February 5-7, 2010. Registration and program schedule is available online at www.alvma.com.

The conference has become one of the best sources for continuing education in the southeast for food supply and mixed animal practicing veterinarians. It is held at the 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama which recently opened a new conference center, making it a very inviting atmosphere for everyone attending.

This year’s line-up of speakers includes Drs. Don Ball, Tony Frazier, Julie Gard, M. Daniel Givens, Max Irsik, Lisa Kriese-Anderson, Thomas Passler, Darrell Rankins, and Lew Strickland. Topics range from Food Economics and Consumer Choice Epidemiology of Bluetongue Virus. Updates from the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and the Alabama Farmer’s Federation will also be presented. As always a great time is enjoyed during the Saturday evening dinner when the Downie Awards are presented and practice tips are shared among attendees.

Don’t miss out on this great opportunity for continuing education and a chance to interact with fellow veterinarians!

The Alabama VMA Winter CE Meeting will be held March 5-7, 2009 at the Sheraton Hotel in Birmingham. Twenty hours of CE will be offered with a focus on “All Things Abdominal.”
Make sure you make your hotel reservation early to take advantage of the group rate discount (before February 3rd, while rooms last) of $145.00 nightly. Hotel reservations can be made by calling 1-205-324-5000. Full conference schedule and registration are available on line at www.alvma.com.

Foundation to Host Seventh Annual Animal Hall of Fame

The Annual Alabama Animal Hall of Fame is slated to be held at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel in Birmingham on Saturday evening, March 6th, 2010.
The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction, a cash bar (beer and wine) for the first hour, delicious heavy hor d ‘oeuvers and a fast paced silent auction all to benefit the ALVMA Foundation. The Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony at 7:00 p.m. will be the highlight of the evening. This evening will remind you of exactly why you chose to become a veterinarian and a part of this wonderful profession. Don't miss this fun-filled exciting evening and the Annual Benefit for the ALVMA Foundation.
Your support and participation will help make the Foundation even stronger as it begins a new year of helping in times of disasters, supporting indigent pet owners, offering scholarships to veterinary students and a host of other projects in support of the human/animal bond.
